January 31, 2014 News

Here is our newsletter for the week! Just a few reminders: 1. Please send the 100th day snack item to school by Tuesday, February 4th. This will give us enough time to prepare it! :) 2. Be sure to send your child's $4.00 for the Planetarium by Friday, February 7th. 3. Please send a 3-D shape to school on Monday. We plan to use the shapes during our Math lesson! 4. If you have not done so already, please return the heart for "100 things we love about Kindergarten". We want to get them up before the 100th day of school! We can't wait to see what they all look like in the hall. 5. I will be at a technology conference in Austin on Tuesday-Friday next week. I will not be at school. If you have any notes or need to get information to me or the school please call the school, email me at, or write a note in their folder. I want to make sure that everything is taken care of while I am gone. I have left detailed notes and I know that the children will be in good hands while I am away! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for sharing your child with me! We had such a great week! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Learning Centers

This week our learning centers included making a flower with adjectives that described ourselves, making and owl puppet with Oo pictures, teen number practice with linking cubes and ten frame mats, and iPads with several learning apps for all subjects!!  We've had a great week of learning!

100th Day of School

I sent home a 100th Day of School letter in your child's folder today. We will celebrate the 100th Day of School on February 7th. We will make a 100th day treat that consists of 10 different snacks. Please send the item on your child's note to school by Tuesday, February 4th. We will need to get the items by then to begin putting together the snack.

Thanks so much for all you do for our class!!

Here is our newsletter for the week. Thank you to everyone that sent wish list items to school this week! We only need 2 more packages of double stuffed Oreo cookies!

Also, I want to remind you about our Planetarium field trip. We will visit the Planetarium on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. The cost for our students to go is $4.00 per child. Please send the $4.00 to school by Friday, Feb. 7th. Sending it as soon as possible will be best. I will be at a Technology Conference from Feb. 5-7 and will have to ask my substitute to collect the money as it comes in. It will be easier to get everyone's $4.00 before then so that a substitute will not have to handle the money. Please let me know if you have any questions about our field trip.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

January 10, 2014 News

Welcome back families!! We had a great return to school! It felt great getting back into a routine! The kiddos were eager to share what they did over the holidays! I missed them over the break and enjoyed hearing all their fun stories!

I put some information about our field trip to the Planetarium in the newsletter. I will start collecting the $4.00 for admission next week, but it is not due until February 7th. I wanted to give everyone enough notice so that you can send it when its convenient for you! There is no permission form required since it is considered an "in town" field trip. Please let me know if you have any questions about it! We will be going to the Planetarium during our Space Exploration unit. The children always have such a great time going!

**Many of the communication folders are starting to fall apart. I will be putting together new folders over the weekend and will throw away the old folders on Monday. Please continue to send your child's communication folder to school daily. Thank you. :)**

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Remember, the next two weeks of school are four day weeks. The students are off January 17th and 20th!

Polar Express Day

I'm a little behind with posting about what is going on in our classroom. The busyness of the holidays caught up to me and I'm now just having a chance to slow down and get back into a routine!!

We really enjoyed Polar Express day! It was filled with movie fun, popcorn, hot chocolate, and even a visit from Santa!!! We were so surprised that he came all the way from the North Pole to see us!! Mrs. Allen also stopped by to give us some awesome treats that she made!! We had a wonderful day filled with so much fun and excitement!!
