September 2014 Snack Calendar

Hello families!! Here is the snack calendar for September. I will send a snack calendar home at the end of each month in your child's folder. I will also post it on the blog for you to access it digitally.

Please send a snack to school for 20 students your child's designated day. Snacks should follow the nutritional guidelines listed in the student handbook. We can't serve cookies, cake, or candy, but you can send cupcakes to school on or around your child's birthday. We have a student in class with a peanut allergy so please, if possible, do not purchase a snack with peanuts listed as an ingredient. If you have any questions about snacks please let me know.

Thank you to the families that brought snack for the first week of school. We didn't use everything that was brought so I have a few extras put back in case we need them! :)

August 29, 2014 News

We've had a great first week! Each Friday, I will send home a newsletter with information about what we learned that week and what's coming up. There is also a "Dates to Remember" section that will have important dates listed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about what we are doing at school.

A few notes: Monday is a school holiday. We will resume normal school hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd. Also, on Friday, September 5th we will have a Grandparent's Day Lunch. Please fill out the RSVP form and return it to school on Tuesday. I will give Ms. Pickle, our cafeteria manager, a count of how many guests we will have so that she can prepare for their visit!

I have enjoyed getting to know all of my new students and I know that we are going to have a great year!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns or if I can help with anything!

Thanks so much!
Mrs. Pullen

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Today was probably the best day of the week so far! I even dressed up for the occasion!

We read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and then we found out that the letters jumped out of the book! We went on a hunt for the letters from CES to Eddie Moore Park! After we found the letters, we had a few minutes of play time! The lesson was a great success. It was so fun and engaging! Everyone had a great time.

When we got back to the room, we put the letters up and closed the book!

After recess though, the letters were all over the classroom. We just can't seem to keep them in the book!

I hope you child came home talking about this wonderful school day! I know I had the best and most memorable day learning with them!

Rainbow Fish

We had another great day at school!! Today we learned about the importance of using our glue correctly. We listened to a read aloud of The Rainbow Fish online and then created our own! We used bug dots to glue tissue squares on our fish. While working on our fish we sang "dot dot not a lot" to help remind us to use small amounts of glue. No waste! :)

Other centers for the day included linking cubes, numbers 1-10 puzzle, and coloring and identifying our name on our September snack calendar!!

Tomorrow is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom day!!

The Kissing Hand

We had a great day! Many of our activities centered around the book The Kissing Hand! We toured the school looking for Chester Raccoon! He took us to many places including the office, nurse's office, and cafeteria! When we got back into our room we found a treat that he left for us! Chester was too fast and jumped back into the book before we could catch him! Maybe we will get another chance to find him on a different day! :)

First Day of School

Wow! We had a great first day! Today we learned about school expectations in and outside the classroom. We went to many places within the school including PE, Library, and the cafeteria! In the afternoon, we rotated through four different centers. The children had a great time talking with each other and I enjoyed spending some time getting to know them!

Tomorrow we have a full day of activities that will center around the book The Kissing Hand! I can't wait to share all the learning that will take place the rest of the week!

I'm ready for the best year yet!
