Weekly Happenings

I usually try to post pictures multiple times a week updating you all about what we do, but it's been so busy that is just been posting on Friday afternoons. I'll try to get back with it! ;) Here's what we've been up to this week:

We discussed day and night and drew activities we do during those times!

We worked with the numbers 16-20 on our double 10 frame mats!

Then we documented our learning in our iPad math journal!

Great drawing! And look at that spelling! Proud teacher!

We got to watch PBS twice this week during lunch!

Here is the Pic Collage we made to show things we can see during the day!

We used the iPads to learn facts about animals and answered comprehension questions!

This week we used the Show Me app to draw a picture and describe one event from the book The Lion and the Mouse!

What a great week!

3rd Six Weeks Awards

Congrats to all the award winners for the 3rd Six Weeks! I'm so proud of each and every one of my students! Love how supportive they are of one another! :)

Hello everyone! We've had a great week at school! We are gearing up for a super busy February. Take a look at our newsletter for the week.

Your child created a digital project this week! It is available to view through the link on the newsletter! Check them out!

Also, make sure you read the dates to remember. Next Thursday is our 100th Day of School. Although I will not be there with the students on this day, I know they will have a wonderful time celebrating this great accomplishment. Ms. Zachariah is going to keep me updated through Twitter!

Field trip money for the planetarium is due on Friday, February 13th. You can send it anytime between now and then. I must have it by the 13th in order for your child to go. We have to give the facility a head count before our visit date. The cost for each child to go is $4.00. Please send cash only. This makes it easier to pay them when we arrive.

Next week I will send a note about our Valentine's Day Party. Be on the look out for that!

WE RECEIVED ALL OF OUR WISH LIST ITEMS!! Thanks so much to everyone that sent those items to school! we will use the Oreo cookies for a phases of the Moon activity and the spaghetti noodles and marshmallows will be used for a 3-D shapes lesson!

Thanks for all you do and for all the help with so many things! I'm so grateful to have such great families and students!!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Good Afternoon Families!! It has been a busy four day week here at school! Take a look at our newsletter for the week! Next week, Ms. Zachariah, my resident student teacher, will be back with us 5 days a week until mid March! We are so excited for her to be back in the classroom with us. The children love her!

Take a look at our dates to remember. We have so much coming up! I will be sending home a 100th Day of School snack letter next week so be sure to look in your child's folder for that. I want to get a head start on the 100th Day of School because I will be in Austin that week. Although I wish I didnt have to miss that wonderful milestone, I will be busy learning about new and innovative educational technology! Ms. Zachariah will take great care of them while I am out.

Also, be on the look out for more information about out field trip to the planetarium. We are working out the specifics, so more information should be coming home very soon!

Remember that tomorrow is a staff development day which means no school for the students. Also, Monday is Martin Luther King day and is a school holiday for students and staff!

I hope you all enjoy the four day weekend! See you back next Tuesday!

January 9, 2015 News

Hello Families!! We've a had a great first week back! It took us a few days to get back into a routine, but everyone came back refreshed and energized! This week was full of writing! We wrote about winter, we wrote thank you notes for our Donor's Choose project, and we also completed our writing activities for the letters Dd & Kk. All of that doesn't even include our journal writing! They did a great job each time they were writing! I'm amazed at how much they are doing on their own with sounding out words and writing in complete sentences!! They have grown so much over the last semester of school!

Take a look at our newsletter for the week! We have some important dates coming up including the 100th Day of School and our Valentine's Day Party! I will be giving you more information on those soon! Also, I will be attending the annual TCEA Convention in Austin February 3-6! This will be my second year attending! I love all things educational technology so this convention is a great place for me to learn about and explore new things to bring back to the classroom! As of right now, my resident student teacher, Ms. Zachariah, will be here with the students while I am gone. I believe it will be the best thing for them since they are already used to seeing her everyday! Also, she's been doing several lessons each week and she know the daily rules, routines, and procedures better than a substitute! If you have any questions about my trip please do not hesitate to ask.
